Leading Automotive Company is a joint venture between a US Based Automotive company and an Indian automotive company. In operation since July 2008, client is multi-brand, multi-division company consisting of a complete range of Trucks and Buses, Client Buses, exclusive distribution of Trucks in India, engine manufacturing and export hub for the Group, non-automotive engines and component business.

Challenges

The Client was facing a lot of issues in their warehouse operations. Time consumption of loading and unloading of trucks was resulting in Higher delays in unloading of Trucks., Congestion in vehicle parking area for unloading, Greater discomfort in drivers’ due to delays caused, Unhappy fleet owners and disagreement in sending vehicles to the client. There was high level of driver discomfort due to delays in unloading of vehicle at the client because of higher documentation time, congestion of vehicles in parking and unloading areas. As a result, fleet owners were not happy sending the vehicle to the client & unable to utilize the vehicle optimally. Also, drivers were not able to reach home on time.

Solutions

CrafSol has proposed the following end to end implementation approach to deliver the scope components—Scoping and Design Phase, Design Stage Gate, After detailed study of captured data following automation was implemented, Scanning process to capture in/out timing, automated self gate entry kiosk, Token number/Dock allotment at the time of entry, Driver waiting area was allocated,

Capturing all vehicle In/Out timing, Stage wise touch-points were monitored, Congestion time was monitored

Results

Inbound Automation—We have implemented the process of capturing all vehicles In/Out time, Stage wise touch points timing & tracking all the steps so that delays can be monitored, and proactive actions can be taken.

In this process following Steps have been automated Vehicle in and out time capturing through scanning process, Automated Self Gate Entry Kiosk Installation thereby reducing time from 45 min to 15 sec. Token number generation and dock allotment at entry points for all vehicles, Online Display of token numbers, dock allocated with vehicle and driver details at driver waiting area.

Docking Management (Unloading start and End time capturing through mobility App)

Benefits : By implementing Inbound Automation, Vehicle Turn Around(TAT) have been reduced drastically. Which has helped in reducing vehicle queuing, traffic congestion at VECV and timely release of vehicles, better vehicle Turn Around leading to higher vehicle utilization, better driver comfort and higher satisfaction to fleet owners, increased business opportunities for fleet owners.
